I like love memes, but sometimes, they can be so arbitrary, and I'm not so much an arbitrary person. The last one was a stalker meme for Halloween. So this love meme type thing has a theme, too: Thankfulness.

It's Wednesday the 21. Thanksgiving is tomorrow for Me and my fellow Americans, but I don't see why we have to be the only ones giving thanks and expressing gratitude. So here's what I propose:

Everyone on my flist has to have someone they're thankful for. It can be someone from LJ, from RL, or some thing that you appreciate. I'm creating a space for you to express those thanks.

So comment here, tell that special someone how much you appreciate them in your life. Say thank you to them for just being themselves, for supporting you and being there when you needed a friend. Or just tell them how much you really adore them. Then, go and pimp in your own journal.

Um, okay. Here's what I was tagged for:

1. When I'm laying down, getting ready to go to sleep, I rub my feet together. If there's someone in bed with me, I rub their feet with my own. Like how you wring your hands when you're anxious? That's how I rub my feet. It's weird. Luckily, I keep my feet in pretty decent shape - no calluses or anything icky like that.

2. I eat pizza in stages: toppings first, then cheese - which I use to scrape off the sauce, then the dough. What? You can't judge me! Only god can judge me.

3. I sing and dance in my car. And DO NOT CARE who sees me. I play air drums on my steering wheel, and air guitar when I'm at a stoplight. That short haired chick who's at the stoplight, mouth wide open and banging on the dash or whatever? Yeah. that's me.

4. I own almost 50 pair of shoes.

5. I watch football for the plays. I don't do it to be social. I don't go to football parties to drink and chit chat. I go to watch the games. Do NOT engage me in conversation if the Gators are playing; I will bust a lamp over your head. Grrrrr.

6. I quote movies, songs, commercials, snippets of dialog just about anything out of pop culture, out of the blue. In any given situation, I can find the appropriate quote to illustrate it. My mom once tested me on this with the princess bride. She kept tossing up these scenarios and I would respond with quotes from the movie. My favorite: "You've just broken down on a deserted highway and there's no help for miles." My response: Why don't you give me a nice paper cut then pour lemon juice on it!

7. you know how you have one particular actor or actress that you follow all the time, or have a serious crush on for like ever? I have two: Tom Cruise and Michelle Pfieffer. Tom Cruise is just the bees knees to me, and I'd so do Michelle Pfieffer. SO DO HER! *cough*

Running Up That Hill by Placebo - Well, they played this song at the end of the Bones ep where Ryan Oneil plays her father and kills the deputy director of the FBI. "If I only could, make a deal with God and get him to swap our places, I'll be runnin up that road, running up that hill." Such a haunting song.

Book of Love by Magnetic Fields - Peter Gabriel did a version of this for the Shall We Dance soundtrack, but he messed with the melody and as much as I like PG, I don't like his version of the song. this one is as close to the version that I do like that I could get. "The book of love is long and boring. No one can lift the damn thing. It's full of charts and facts and figures and instructions for dancing."

Ready for the Storm by Rich Mullins - Rich Mullins was a contemporary Christian music singer. He had some really AWESOME (Hee! He wrote Awesome God) songs out before he was killed and this is one of my absolute favorites. "The waves crash in the tide rolls out. It's an angry sea but there is no doubt that the lighthouse will keep shining out, to warn a lonely sailor. And the lightning strikes and the wind cuts cold through this sailor's bones, through this sailor's soul, til there's nothing left that he can hold, except a rolling ocean."

The Authority Song by John Cougar Mellencamp - Hah! this is just a fun song and it reminds me so much of Dean, it's totally cool. "Well, I fight authority, authority always wins. When I fight authority, authority always wins. Well, I been doin it since I was a young kid and I come out grinnin. When I fight authority, authority always wins!"

Bridge of Sighs by Robin Trower - I read a SPN big bang fic a while back called The Knuckles of the Skinnybone Tree and this song was on the soundtrack for that fic. It's very atmospheric and lonely sounding. It's supposed to play during the scenes where John Winchester is trekking across the desert badlands almost dead from exposure. Old song, before I was born, but still so haunting and gutteral. I love it. Also, I played it for my Eng. II students, and one of my musically inclined students, Demetrius, said to me, "Ms. I like this beat. It's tight." I have no idea what that means, but I think it means the song's good. "The sun don't shine and the moon don't move the tides to wash me clean. Why so unforgiving and why so cold? Been a long time crossing the bridge of sighs. Cold wind blows, and God looks down in anger on this foolish child. why so unforgiving and why so cold? Been a long time crossing the bridge of sighs."

This comm takes trashy harlequin 'plots' and encourages fans to re-work them into SPN stories. Ohh, the luciousness that is in this community. Oh, and the crack. Let's not forget the crack! But I sat here in front of my computer Sunday morning reading several of the stories there. So good. I loved it. Some are San and Dean, some are Jensen/Jared, but all are worth reading.

The ficathon community focused on Steve Carlson and his songs. *le sigh* I really like his music, I like his poetry and the way he puts words to music. There've been some really sweet stories posted there, so go check it out. I think it would be obvious, but in case you didn't catch it, it's filled with RPS.

I've been attending this lovely little seminar/workshop run by the Flippen Group. It's called Capturing Kids' Hearts. Some useful tools, I've learned, and the one I like the best so far is the EXCEL model.

First Impression Meme Thing
so, go tell me what ya initially thought of me. I can take it, honestly.

I've managed to corrupt my best friend. Again. She was so against Buffy for the longest time, thought SMG was the biggest bitch to walk the face of the earth, and couldn't stand the idea of Buffy. Last year, I introduced her to BtVS through the eps with Xander and Angel. Now, she's a devoted fan with lovely little side effect of corrupting her 11 year old son as well, who is a dedicated fan boy. Heee, just last night he quoted "The Yoko Factor"'s drunk Giles: Deni asked him if he was drunk. He said: "Rather a lot actually." Then giggled and said, "Fort Dicks?" it was priceless.

Now, why am I evil grinning again? Because I - in a shameless effort to get her to just WATCH SPN - snuck a disc in the DVD player one afternoon while she was here, and guess what? Yes. She is a Dean-aholic. LOVES Dean. And over the last two nights has watched 12 episodes. What? Yes, I said 12 eps. last night we watched 8. Disc 2 and 3. She's hooked. UNBELIEVABLY hooked. Like, hitting the rewind and pause buttons when Dean arches his brow or when Sammy pouts. I am evil and am thoroughly enjoying myself. Mwahahahahah!

What else?
It occurs to me that I very rarely put in personal stuff in this lj. I mean, RARELY. Yeah, I've talked about teaching some, and a couple of serious incidents in which I was doubting my worthiness as a human being because of some heinous thing I did, but overall, this is almost completely a fannish journal.

Is there anything you, my flisties, would like to know about me? What kind of person I am in RL? What I do? How I get about in life? Are any of ya curious about why I am the way I am? Feel free to ask.
