Today is known to some as the Day of Infamy, in commemoration of what happened at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. In your lifetime, what date sticks out as the most memorable in terms of world events?

Hmm. Obviously, 9/11. I remember sitting in Mattherly Hall at UF reading The Myserious Death of Mary Rodgers for History class, and this Asian guy saying we were being attacked. The Prof. Montgomery came in and told us all to go home and turn on the news. Just...Omg.

I don't remember the date, b/c I don't really pay attention at the time, but Yeah, Columbine. Those students falling out of the second story library window....Indelible in my brain, I'm telling you.

October '90. Fall of the Berlin Wall. I watched it come down in my bes friend's bedroom. We were both 15 and didn't really understand all the implications, but we knew it was big.

January 16, 1991. the ground forces invasion of Iraq. The guy I was totally in love with was in the first wave (82nd Airborn) of paratroopers to land in the war......
