Things to Do On Christmas When You're Chelle

1. Get father and step-mother hooked on not one, but two shows: SGA and Bones. *check*

2. Flirt with new dude who is the nephew of an uncle outside the bloodline. *check*

3. Feel like the epitome of a Jeff Foxworthy routine: "You know you're a redneck if you go to family reunions to look for chicks." *holyshithellyescheck*

3. Pontificate with brother's roommate about the aspects and intricacies of the vampire fantasy. *check*

4. Watch several hours of anime with said roomie and stay up until all hours of the morning discussing books and film and tv. *checkcheck*

5. Deny obviously growing attraction to and for roomie to brother and sister-in-law. *check*

6. Spend inordinate amounts of money in the world of Chelle, but make everyone happy in the process. *check*

7. Get home and miss said roomie with a purple passion nevertofore believed. umm. *check*

8. Go to Longhorn Steakhouse, eat $70+ meal and have it comped because the ditz of a server BROKE YOUR DEBIT CARD!!! *hellmuthafuckin'check, yo*

9. Go to Olive Garden and enjoy some DAMN GOOD Lasagna with brother, sis, and nephew. *check*

10. Fall into some serious like. *sighchecksigh*

Christmas Cards!

I love Christmas! It's my favorite holiday! First and foremost? God loved us enough to send His son, to walk among us and teach us the right way. I give thanks to Him everyday for that. Granted, that may not have happened in the winter time, but who I am to quibble about God's timetable?

Second: family. We are all getting older and, to some degree, better. I finally have a job I can be proud of telling everyone about. My brother is doing so well, my Dad and stepmom are content and happy. All my cousins (except the one in jail and we shan't speak of her except to wish her a Merry Christmas) are doing well and are happy. My grandmother is doing much better after her bout with circulatory problems. And my mom, though still relatively poor, is doing better too. We'll be together this Christmas for the first time in a very long time, and we'll all get to celebrate God's love and each other.

Third: Friends. I don't have a whole heck of a lot of friends. I've always been a quality over quantity person. I have a precious few that I cherish and love to distraction. They are all blessed this holiday season as well, being solvent and not living paycheck to paycheck.

And now for the point behind this post!

I started receiving my Flisties Christmas cards: [info]killerweasel, [info]strickens_girl, [info]taruma16, [info]thebratqueen, and [info]crayonbreakygal all sent beautiful cards with lovely messages in them. Thank you ladies! Janet? Your card is in the mail, I promise! I lost my stamps and had to get some more. It'll be there after Christmas, but it WILL be there!

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you. May the Lord lift up the light of his countenance upon you and grant you peace.

Holiday card reminder

Hey y'all!

Just sending out a reminder that I have a post here if you want to get a card from me this holiday. I have a few takers so far.

So if you guys, my wonderfully cool flisties, would like a card from me, go to the Christmas Card sign up post and leave your address in the comments, which are totally screened.

For those that have already? I have your addresses written down and you're on my list. But I'm not replying to the individual comments; that way they'll stay screened. ;)

PS: I'll probably do another couple of posts like this one to give ample opportunity for people to give me their addys.

Holiday cards! Yay!

I've seen lotsa peeps NOT sending cards out this year, but I still am. If you'd like a card from me, drop me a comment with your address on it - They'll be SCREENED - and I'll put ya on my list.

Let me know if you want general holiday greetings, though, because I usually send Christian cards for the holidays. But I'll send ya what ever ya like:).

Holiday cards again

Last post for my flisties! I'm mailing out my cards this week, so if you want one leave a SCREENED comment with your name and address, a perference as to card type (sacred, secular, humorous, general holidays) and a prompt for a little drabble - if you want one.

Y'all have happy holidays!

The Holiday Wishlist Thingy

Here we go...
If any of my f-list is doing this, post here and let me know! I want to put it into my special memories folder (I've got quite a few already, but probably not all...) So yeah, lemme know. ^_^

Step One
- Make a post (public, friends locked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fun ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real possible things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two
-Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

So, who wants holiday cards? with drabbles?

I've seen others doing this and it seems like a fantastic idea. I want those of you on my flist who would like to get cards this year for the christmas holidays to comment with your address - they'll be screened of course.

I think after this year, all of us could use some cheering and I love getting things in the mail.

Hope to hear from y'all!

ETA: Let me know if you prefer general seasons greetings, specific Christmas ones, or inspirational ones.
